We had a successful first show of my newest Marathi music production, SUR OLAKHICHE, earlier this month at the Berry Center in Cypress, Texas. The magnitude of response and outpouring of appreciation for the concert has been absolutely overwhelming from the local audience as well as the guest of honor at the event, Avadhoot Gupte. Check out the photos below! More content will be posted soon.
Special thanks to Bhagyashree Dixit for the photography.
SUR OLAKHICHE is my newest musical production... featuring Marathi classics with a newly imagined sound. Your favorite Marathi songs, with new voices, new instruments, and new arrangements!
The SUR OLAKHICHE band and I have been hard at work rehearsing since last fall. We are super excited to go on stage for the first show on February 12! All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting Houston Maharashtra Mandal's Vastu project - a dream to build a Maharashtrian community center in the greater Houston area.
Don't miss this show - it's sure to be a one of a kind production. :) See you all from the Berry Center stage on February 12th!
Special thanks to Jyotsna Phadke for lending her artistic talents to make this poster.
Check out excerpts from last Saturday's "Mangaldeep" concert at Houston Maharashtra Mandal's annual Diwali event. I accompanied Padmashri Padmaja Phenany-Joglekar on tabla.
Also accompanying were Mandar Parkhi on harmonium and Aditya Joglekar on guitar.
The CFISD Communications Department recently issued an online press release publicizing the recent Cy-Hope donation supporting music curriculum initiatives in the district. The team of "Music Beyond Words" got a special mention!
Check out the feature story here.
Nitish was recently given an opportunity to play tabla with sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and his younger son, Ayaan Ali Khan, during their residence at Indiana University!
The Music Beyond Words tour is, as the name suggests, an indescribable experience. The performances showcase the talents of local musicians, featuring original instrumental pop songs composed and directed by Nitish Kulkarni. This by students for students production aims to show kids and adults alike that no matter where someone comes from there is always a way to follow their passions.
Proceeds from the concerts benefit Cy-Hope, a local charity that sponsors music programs throughout the Cy-Fair district. All the musicians involved are graduates from the Cy-Fair district who want to give back and change lives through music the same way music changed theirs. The concerts will be held August 3rd, 9th, and 17th. Please visit www.cy-hope.com for tickets and more information.
